M on the Bund is inspired by the red Chinese flags, which fly over the the grand, 1920s-era buildings that still line Shanghai's riverfront boardwalk. The M is for Michelle Garnaut, an Australian restaurateur who oversees Shanghai's very own International Literary Festival, which has in the past lured everyone from John Banville to Amy Tan.
Tip: Escape from the crowds with a classic martini at the roof terrace of M on the Bund or enjoy a French feast at Mr. & Mrs. Bund, the VIAJIYU founder's favourite restaurant. Both deliver spectacular views of Shanghai's iconic CCTV Tower.
